Beaufort Wind Scale Converter

Convert a wind speed to its Beaufort force (0–12) — from Calm to Hurricane — with the descriptive name, sea and land effects, and the canonical speed range in knots, m/s, km/h and mph. The WMO table has been stable since 1946, so the result never goes stale. Pure arithmetic, in your browser.

The Beaufort scale is defined by wind speed in knots; the m/s, km/h and mph columns are the WMO's published rounded equivalents. Near a boundary, a value may classify by knots slightly differently than a rounded published range in another unit suggests — this is inherent to the table, not an error.
