Fabric & Sewing Yardage Calculator
Estimate how much fabric a sewing project needs. Enter the finished piece dimensions and quantity, the fabric's width (selvedge to selvedge), the seam allowance, and an optional pattern repeat, and the tool lays the cut pieces out across the bolt to give the length needed in inches/centimetres and yards/metres. Seam allowance is added to each side of every piece; the layout packs as many pieces as fit across the fabric width, then stacks the rows along the length. Useful for placemats, napkins, curtains, cushion covers and quilt blocks before you buy. Pure arithmetic — a simple grid layout that ignores directional prints, nap, bias cutting and piecing; for those, add margin and round up an extra quarter yard.
