Inductor Series / Parallel Calculator

Combine inductor values in series or parallel and solve for a missing inductor. Enter a list of inductor values (e.g. 10mH, 100µH, 1H) to get the total; or give one known inductor and a target total to find the second inductor needed. Inductors add in series like resistors and combine in parallel via reciprocals — so a parallel total is always smaller than the smallest member. Optionally enter a frequency to also see the inductive reactance XL = 2πfL of the combined inductor. Pairs with the Resistor and Capacitor Series / Parallel calculators. Everything runs locally in your browser.

Series: L = L₁ + L₂ + … (totals grow). Parallel: 1/L = 1/L₁ + 1/L₂ + …, so the total is always smaller than the smallest member. To hit a target total from one known inductor: in series add L₂ = L_target − L₁ (target must exceed the known); in parallel add L₂ = 1 / (1/L_target − 1/L₁) (the known inductor must be larger than the target). Inductive reactance at frequency f is X_L = 2πfL ohms. Units understood: H, mH, µH/uH, nH, pH. Everything runs locally — nothing leaves your browser.
