Semaphore Flag Translator

Encode text into flag semaphore — the visual signaling system used at sea and by scouts — and decode it back. Each letter is represented by a person holding two flags in one of eight positions (like the hours of a clock). The diagram shows the flag positions for every letter A–Z, digits, and the numeric-shift and space signals. Pairs with the Morse Code and NATO Phonetic tools. Runs locally in your browser.

Semaphore chart

Flag semaphore uses eight positions around the body, like a clock face. The two flag positions combine to represent each letter. In the numeric shift, letters A–D become digits 1–4 and J, E–I become 5–9, and K is zero. Pairs with Morse Code, Braille, and NATO Phonetic tools. Runs locally.
