Stroop Test
Test your selective attention and cognitive interference. A color word appears printed in a possibly different ink color — pick the button whose label matches the ink color, not the word. When the word and ink match (congruent) it's easy; when they don't (incongruent) your reading reflex fights your color judgment. The measured gap in reaction time is the Stroop effect. Each trial: a color word (e.g. "RED") appears in some ink color. The six buttons below are labeled with color names in neutral text — click the one whose label names the ink color you see. The classic finding: incongruent trials (word and ink differ) take ~100–200 ms longer and produce more errors than congruent trials, because reading is automatic and interferes with naming the color.
